Ori Lenkinski is a choreographer, writer and dramaturg whose work explores the intersection of text and movement. Based in Tel Aviv, her practice bridges performance, language and research, often positioning the body as a site of translation between the two.

Her choreographic works include The Painting (2015), Portrait #2 (2017, with Ruth Eshel), The Suit (2019), Meet Me in the Market (2020), and Birth Preparation Course (2021), which premiered at the Akko International Fringe Theater Festival and won first prize at the Vietnam International Festival for Experimental Theater. Recent works include a dance piece (2024), presented across Europe and the United States, Jackie Pink and Black (2024), Escape Room (2025), and dancers (2025), a work for five early-career performers.

In 2026, Ori premiered How’d I Get Here?, a sci-fi performance for children.  Developed as part of the Bikurei Ha’Itim Center’s Incubator for Dance Works for the Whole Family under the Artistic Direction of Rachel Erdos.

As a performer, Lenkinski spent nearly a decade in New York working with site-specific choreographer Noemie Lafrance, collaborating on multiple works including the Bessie Award-winning Descent. Since relocating to Israel, she has performed with Anat Katz and Erez Maayan, Ariel Cohen, Noa Shadur and the Israeli Opera, and maintains an ongoing collaboration with choreographer Rachel Erdos as a dancer, dramaturg and music advisor.

Her interdisciplinary work extends across film and theater, including the dance films Carriage and Expecting (with Rachel Erdos), Blueberry by Nataly Zukerman (2022), for which she served as movement director and co-creator, and Prisoner of Zion by Lee Perlman, where she worked as dramaturg.

Alongside her stage work, Lenkinski is an established dance writer and editor. She has contributed regularly to The Jerusalem Post since 2008 and her writing has appeared in Dance Magazine, The Huffington Post, Haaretz and other international publications. She is the author of the column Parental Choreography.

Her work also extends to television, with appearances on i24 News and as host of Aerowaves’ Spring Forward TV (2019).

Working between Hebrew and English, she collaborates with Israeli choreographers as a translator and adaptor, shaping texts for international audiences across grant applications, festival materials and performance contexts.

In 2016, she founded Creative Writing, a multi-lingual online platform dedicated to expanding the relationship between dance and text. Today, the Creative Writing team includes seven writers and two editors.

She has been involved in professional organizations supporting the Israeli dance field, including the Israeli Union of Performing Artists and the Israeli Choreographers Association.

She is mildly allergic to pineapples.
